CHAPTER FOUR
The Appointed Times of the Lord.
God’s
calendar has special days and holidays which were appointed and established by
God Himself. God calls upon us to
celebrate those moments according to laid down procedures. The following are
the appointed times of the Lord.
(1)
The Daily
The times
when the morning and evening sacrifices used to be offered were transformed
into official prayer times for the Church. This is around 9 am and 3 pm every
day. We are supposed to offer prayers at those times wherever we are.
(2)
The 7th Day Sabbath
The seventh
day of the week was set apart by God and was actually blessed and made holy. He
then called upon us to be keeping the day holy by not working on that day. This
day falls every Saturday.
(3)
The New Moon Day
New moon day
is always the first day of the month. This is the day when we have the lunar
conjunction. This is the day the moon starts her journey around the earth. It
is the day the moon is totally obscured without any crescent at all.
(4)
The Passover Feast
God demands
that we observe the Passover feast on the night of the 14th day of
the first month. Since animal sacrifices are no longer valid, the cup and the
bread should be prepared at twilight of the 14th day just one or two
hours before the sunset which ushers in the night part of the 15th
day.
It is during this night of the 15th
day that the Passover should be celebrated. This is a mandatory night vigil for
all the saints.
(5)
The Feast of Unleavened Bread
This is a
seven day feast beginning from the 15th to the 21st day
of the first month. The 15th and the 21st days are
supposed to be holy Sabbath days. Every evening the saints are supposed to
break bread until the 21st days.
(6)
The Feast Of First-Fruits
This is a
one-day feast which is held on the day after the Saturday Sabbath which
immediately follows the Passover Feast on the 14th day. It therefore
automatically means that the feast of first fruits is always held on Sundays.
(7)
The Feast Of Pentecost
The feast of
Pentecost is also a one-day affair which is celebrated 50 days from the day of
the feast of first fruits. This means it is always celebrated on Sundays. This
day is reckoned as a holy Sabbath day.
(8)
The Feast Of Trumpets
The feast of
Trumpets is celebrated on the first day of the seventh month. This day is
always reckoned as a holy Sabbath day.
(9)
The Feast Of Atonement
This is also
a one day event which is celebrated every 10th day of the seventh
month. This is the most solemn feast where fasting is mandatory. This day is
also reckoned as a holy Sabbath day.
(10)
The Feast Of Tabernacles
The feast of
Tabernacles is a seven day event which runs from the 15th to the 21st
days of the seventh month. The first day which is the 15th is a holy
Sabbath day.
(11)
The Close Of Year Sabbath
On the 22nd
day, the saints are required to celebrate the Sabbath day to close the year.
(12)
The Sabbatical year
Every
seventh year is also supposed to be Sabbatical and we are supposed to celebrate
as well. Remember the seven year must be the one synchronizing perfectly well
with the seventh year from the exodus which is 1431 BC.
(13)
The Jubilee year
The first
year of a new jubilee cycle is set apart for jubilee celebrations. It is a
sabbatical just like every Sabbatical year.
